Aviation Charts
One of the most important things you have to remember with airport aviation charts is currency. The FAA is part of the National Oceanographic Administration who publishes your visual Flight Rule Sectional Charts every fifty-six days. If you fly under instrument flight rules, then approach plate and low/high altitude enroute charts are published as needed. Therefore, we highly suggest that you subscribe to our chart service and not get caught in between. Staying current is your legal responsibility as commander of your aircraft.
Jeppesen and NOAA approach plates are changed on an as needed basis, therefore it is all too easy to fly with old charts and plates. The only way to solve this problem is to subscribe to the Jeppesen and NOAA chart service and this will keep you current and abreast of all the changes that will effect you as a pilot.
Be prepared and get your pilots guide and know the services available. Hey. . . here is a great idea, create your own trip binder. One of the most frustrating items as a pilot is the other part of the cross country flight. You know the inland transportation, hotels, restaurants, etc. The worst thing that can happen is to fly an aircraft for 1 ½ hours and then wait 1 ¼ hours for a car. The entire efficiency of traveling by aircraft has just been cfi pilot shope can help you with the correct chart accessories.
Do not let this happen to you! Increase you situational awareness by having the proper Jeppessen approach plates, charts, approach plates and airport facility directories.
